Seriously that seems like SO MUCH makeup but it doesn’t end up looking like it. Maybe my skin just refuses to look cakey? Or I just apply things with a light hand?
It was kind of strange to go from slapping on some tinted moisturizer and mascara to doing a full face of makeup like this, but it was fun! And I feel like a purty purty princess :3
What I was most excited to try was the second palate of the Maybeline Luminous Lights eyeshadow. So this is the center of my review.
I really do like the Luminous Lights quads from Maybeline, I really do. BUT they are not a heavily pigmented shadow and I don’t really think they’re meant to be. They’re very smooth textured and silky feeling, no real fall-out because it doesn’t contain glitter, but again they’re very sheer colors. I do think they work best wet, which I did here and they look really pretty applied that way.
When using it dry I’d be careful of packing on too much because instead of getting more color you get a more pearly look that can quickly go over the top. I accidentally did that here but blotted on some of my pressed powder to fix that and that did the trick in toning down the pearly look.
I really do like the look of these for a natural looking bright eye appearance but again it’s really not super pigmented. I may try using one of the colors alone with a matte shadow in the crease next time but for the sake of trying it all out at once I applied the shadows according to the package:
I think having such an intense white ‘base’ fades out any other color put on top of it so in the future I’d use it as a brow highlighter. I actually used a small angled fluffy brush from ELF to dip into some of that and used it as a highlighter on my cheeks, nose, and forehead. I’d like to try the pearly pink ‘base’ color from the Opal Lights quad (not used) as a highlighter as well.
If your looking for a lot of intense color pay off these really aren’t going to suit you. But if your looking for a soft natural looking wash of color with some unique texture I do think these are nice, and for me that’s just what I want. A bit of natural color is all I am looking for.

I ended up applying the eyeliner a bit thicker then I wanted, for some reason I just can’t seem to get eyeliner as thin as I’d like but..oh well. I took my friend’s advice and used some black gel liner to the upper lash line before using the Revlon color stay liquid liner pen over it once the gel was completely dried.
The color comes out much deeper then it does when swatched on the back of my hand so I am pleased with that. It also doesn’t seem to rub off as easily as it did on my hand. The Almay Get up and Grow mascara is really lovely, and I found it discounted at Target not long ago. I’d repurchase it discounted only because it’s normal selling price is around 8-10$ I believe. I got mine for something like $4.50.

Nothing creeps me out quite like a random pair of lips right in your face. BUT IMMA TRENDY MAKEUP BLOGGER so this is what yeh get. It’s the L’oreal The Balm lipbalm in Coral paired with the Mary Kay lipgloss in pink diamonds.
I didn’t actually pay for the Mary Kay gloss, I got it from my ex-step mother about a year ago as a tester for her when she just started up selling the makeup stuff. I thought the little .27ounce tube was a ‘tester’ size and really liked it so I went to see how much it went for online, it’s full size after all and sell for like $18 @__@ so I plan on making this last as long as I can because there’s no way in Talos I am buying $18 lipgloss! It’s a shame because this is such a silky smooth pretty gloss and the shimmer in it doesn’t feel gritty or hard at all.

And my blurry face. Because why not. I also purchase some of the John Frieda shampoo for red hair discounted at Walmart. It’s suppose to help brighten and intensify red hair dye and as you can see mine has dulled quite a bit.
While I think it’s a nice shampoo I ought to have been using it from the start to get the best results :\ what I plan to do with my hair is have it dyed the same color again and save some of the dye to mix with my own bottle of generic shampoo and use that every other day with this shampoo.
